TEAM BIOS
Ami Ehrlich grew up in the mountains of Northern New Mexico and the Bay Area and feels lucky to have family in two of the most beautiful spots on the planet. She joined Women With Altitude to be part of a creative solution to social justice issues. She is now a Global Program Officer for Room to Read, an international organization that establishes educational infrastructure in Asia and Africa.
Shona Holmes grew up in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains of Northern New Mexico outside Santa Fe. She decided to be part of Women With Altitude because the project combined her two passions--the outdoors and social service. She is currently a nurse practitioner in a hospital near the Navajo Nation.
Beth Mertz grew up in a small town in the northern San Francisco Bay Area. She co-founded Women With Altitude because she knew that she could use her skills to create meaningful change in the world. For the past eight years she has worked for the University of California, San Francisco as a health services researcher, and she is pursuing a PhD in Sociology while continuing to work full time.
Amber Nystrom was born in San Francisco, but has spent most of her life roaming the Pacific Northwest, riding bareback in the wilds of a Tennessee ranch, and traveling to places remote and beautiful. She joined Women With Altitude to be part of something significant and to put her mountaineering and public relations skills to good use. She is now a partner in Tendris, an international firm that is creating clean teachnologies that will change the world.
Tonya Redfield spent her early childhood in the Blue Ridge Moutains of Virginia, where her profound love of the outdoors developed in the dense forests of her own backyard. She founded Women With Altitude in tribute to all of the men and women who have broken the cycle of violence in their own families. She is pursuing an MBA with a focus on sustainable development.
Sarah Vaill is equally passionate about women’s rights, Latin America, and the outdoors, and found triple inspiration in the goals of Women with Altitude to pursue the challenge of the three peaks. She is presently a freelance writer based in Los Angeles, and has spent all of her free time in the last four years making the Women With Altitude documentary to share the message of hope and strength with women around the world.
